St George’s Primary School
St Georges School is situated within the Somerset Levels of South West England. The surrounding area is subject to high water table levels and an integrated ditch and land drainage control and manage disposal of surface water run off.
The site drainage design called for detailed discussions and close working with the Internal Design Board to gain approval for the on site surface water attenuation pond which also formed a wetland/landscaping feature and teaching aid for the school children.
The drainage design called for careful integration with the extensive underground ground source heating scheme. Child friendly design of the play surfaces, car parking and access roads were called for, as well as negotiations with the L. A. and Highway Authority, on site access.
