The refurbishment of the original building blends contemporary design with the original Arts and Crafts style.  The new extension utilises an innovative stressed skin steel roof to achieve cantilevers up to nine metres with a depth of only three hundred millimetres.  Sufficient stiffness is provided to allow all support to be from internal columns giving structure free, fully glazed façades.
