More information

Timber joists span in both directions to support the roof which are in turn supported on a combination of doubled up timber posts, structural book shelves and external brickwork walls.  Connections are provided by exposed galvanised steel plates and bolts.

The intention is to provide as open an aspect as possible to two sides of the pavilion so stability is provided by the external brickwork walls and the structural chimney and book shelves, minimising any vertical bracing.

The roof can also cantilever at one corner adding to the open aspect of the design.
