Launch of The Structural Carbon Tool

Join us for the launch of The Structural Carbon Tool in partnership with the Institution of Structural Engineers.

During the event, Penny Gowler (Elliott Wood) and Will Arnold (IStructE) will outline the background and purpose of The Structural Carbon Tool and explain how it can be used by engineers to aid climate-positive decision making. Following a live demonstration, the expert panel will answer questions on carbon calculations and how to use it.

We developed The Structural Carbon Tool in 2016 to enable our teams to quickly estimate the embodied carbon in a structure and locate embodied carbon hotspots. In line with our commitment to Engineer a Better Society and promote change within the industry, we are now sharing the tool for free to encourage more sustainable practices.

The Structural Carbon Tool is aligned with BS EN 15978, BS EN 15804 and the RICS professional statement Whole life carbon assessment for the built environment. It is also aligned with the SCORS rating system proposed in 2020 by the Institution of Structural Engineers Climate Emergency Task Group.

We hope to see you there!
