Steve Faulkner on the launch of IStructE's Level of Definition Responsibility Matrix – Latest

After several years of development with the Institute of Structural Engineers BIM panel, we are delighted to share an article by our BIM Manager, Steve Faulkner, on the launch of the Level of Definition Responsibility Matrix. The purpose of the Responsibility Matrix is to provide much needed guidance on what should be included in a structural engineer’s model in line with the Structural Plan of Work and the minimum method of delivery for that element.

The document is intended to be guidance for the engineer and modified on a project-by-project basis by the engineer to aid in the removal of ambiguity regarding the structural engineer's project deliverables, and to better manage the expectations of other project team members.
