Three projects shortlisted for RIBA Regional Awards 2020

We’re thrilled to have three projects shortlisted for the RIBA Regional Awards 2020. The list features education/sports, civils and residential schemes across the South of England:

St John's School Sports Centre with FaulknerBrowns (South East)

St John’s is a leading independent secondary school. They recently upgraded their sports facilities with an ambitious new multi-million pound development, including a new swimming pool and a dance studio. Due to the wide range of uses, we offered differing structural solutions for each area to ensure that the structure is fit for purpose and works efficiently. View the project page here.

Bierton Crematorium with Haverstock (South)

The Bierton Crematorium project featured a new-build crematorium building with a large chapel and a series of internal and external waiting areas and ancillary spaces, formal and informal landscaped gardens and associated site boundary treatments. The scheme is a sensitive response to a rural environment; uplifting yet dignified spaces; landscape and commemoration that provide a space for memory and evocation; a form and materiality that provides reassurance and solace. Belle Vue with Morris+Company and ArchitecturePLB (London)

Belle Vue is a high quality residential development from Pegasus Life for senior living in Hampstead. On a steeply sloping site with a hospital on one side and a school on the other, this was a challenging project, particularly given the onerous requirements for Basement Impact Assessments from Camden. A double storey basement to allow for parking was proposed and constructed using contiguous piles around the perimeter. Find out more in this Dezeen article.

Congratulations to the teams involved and all of the practices who made it onto the shortlists. As judging for the RIBA Awards has been postponed, the final winners are expected to be announced in the second half of 2020.
