Two Wins at the BCO National Awards – Latest
We’re delighted to announce that two of our projects – One Portwall Square and HERE+NOW – won at this week’s British Council for Offices (BCO) awards. The awards celebrate the best of the UK’s office sector, recognising excellence in design, innovation, and occupier satisfaction.
HERE Building, HERE + NOW: ESG Award
HERE+NOW, located at Thames Valley Park in Reading, is the recipient of the newly established ESG Award. The award recognises projects that demonstrating outstanding environmental, social, and governance performance.
The development by V7 Asset Management saw two tired office buildings transformed into a highly sustainable campus focused on ESG and wellness. The buildings are both net zero carbon, BREEAM Outstanding and feature a range of amenities that enhance the wellbeing and productivity of the occupants. These include two cafes, a large indoor and outdoor gym, an outdoor cinema, and an outdoor working area.
The BCO judges praised HERE+NOW for exemplifying how a data-led and informed approach to sustainable design can still deliver an aspirational product for everyone who will use it. They also commended the project for achieving carbon neutrality in construction and operation, setting a new benchmark for the industry.
One Portwall Square: Commercial Workspace Award
One Portwall Square, situated in Bristol’s city centre, won the Commercial Workspace Award, which celebrates projects that provide exceptional working environments for occupiers.
Nord Development's new build designed by Allford Hall Monaghan Morris replaces a disused building with a six-storey, innovative and people-centric office that provides a sustainable, distinctive, and brilliant place to work. The building features a striking brick façade, generous floorplates, high-quality finishes, and a rooftop terrace with panoramic views.
The BCO judges were impressed by One Portwall Square’s contribution to the regeneration of the area and its focus on wellbeing and environmental performance. They said, “Not only is it giving a new area to the city centre, but One Portwall Square is providing much needed sustainable workplace to Bristol’s office market with a key focus on wellbeing and environmental performance.”
