108 Cannon Street, London – Projects

108 Cannon Street,
London

This project is a 7 storey building situated on the southern side of Cannon Street in close proximity to the Circle and District and Northern lines. It is currently a stone and glass clad, steel framed building built in 1986-90 and designed by Seifert Ltd. Architects.

Elliott Wood are working closely with Morrow & Lorraine Architects and GVA Second London Wall to redesign the space and add additional storeys. The main challenges were justifying the additional loads on the foundations and strengthening the existing steel portal frames to be able to cope with the increased wind load on the building.

“Elliott Wood worked tirelessly to resolve the many technical challenges that were presented by this scheme. By carrying out rigorous analysis of the existing structure the amount of structural interventions necessary to accommodate additional floors and the alterations to the elevations were minimised thus making the proposals viable.”
