The challenges we face are considerable, and of course, we can’t tackle them alone. To set out a path, we created a Manifesto called ETHICS. It outlines the issues we face across Education; Technology; Healthcare; Infrastructure; Culture and Sustainability. We don’t have all the answers but we can ask the big questions that offer urgency – and present insights from like-minded thinkers, doers and communities from across the world.
We are optimistic that we can make a difference, even in our own business, we have gone from slide-rules to robotic construction, with artificial intelligence and smart dust around the corner.
But looking ahead to the next 25 years we need a paradigm shift to allow us to focus on what is better rather than simply less bad. Our work to date on developing Structural Carbon Tools and promoting the Re-use of buildings and materials are small steps towards this, but only the start.
Thinking creatively is one way, but we must also take aim economically and politically to challenge Governments, legislation, and the decisions they make which drive all aspects of our lives today.
