Gary Elliott wins Inspirational Leader of the Year
We’re delighted to announce that our Founder and CEO Gary Elliott has won ‘Inspirational Leader of the Year’ at the BCO Next Gen Awards. We know that Gary is dedicated to supporting young talent and is an inspirational leader within our practice, but it’s fantastic to see him receive recognition and an accolade for helping up and coming professionals in the industry more widely.
One of the qualities that sets Gary apart and that we actively promote at Elliott Wood, is an ethos of openness and a willingness to hear creative ideas to do things differently. His ambitious and engaging nature ensures that he not only takes people with him but motivates others to proactively seek new and innovative ideas for change to help drive the business and industry forward.
To enable greater impact, he led the team to develop a Manifesto in 2019, which asserts our commitment to societal and environmental reform across the sectors and strands of our industry that need most help. And launched The Building Society, a collaborative co-working space to share ideas, debate and collaborate. By facilitating creative and technical sharing in the space, he is helping to elevate industry knowledge and inspire people, projects and policies.
The award was judged by an expert panel of peers and presented by Andy Levy, Partner at Rider Levett Bucknall, at a virtual prize-giving ceremony. On announcing the winner, Levy commented:
“Gary has a sustained track record of project leadership in the project sector, whilst founding a successful and innovative co-working space, which has been used as a platform for collaboration for the Next Gen community.
He has also mentored and supported many people in their careers, including increasing the supporting links between the BCO Next Generation and the BCO.
The winner has shown great leadership skills and a dedication to fundamentally improving wellbeing and productivity as well as leading and facilitating creative, technical sharing. Which they hope will elevate industry knowledge and inspire people, projects and policies.
