Ian Poole joins task force for UK Net Zero Carbon Buildings Standard

Elliott Wood Associate, Ian Poole, has been selected for the UK Net Zero Carbon Buildings Standard's embodied carbon task group and healthcare buildings sector group. Previously, Ian was involved in developing the NHS Net Zero Carbon Healthcare Buildings Standard. Ian is part of Elliott Wood's Sustainability Team.

This initiative will set out energy and carbon limits for all building typologies, aligned with the UK's net zero carbon commitment, alongside an implementation process for reporting and validating assessments. The UK NZC Buildings Standard will align the industry and cut through any false claims and greenwashing, instead rewarding developers who make genuine changes to ensure their assets consider their impact to the climate.

"It's a privilege to be involved in a collaborative project with industry leaders in the field which is supported by our leading institutions and industry groups," Ian said.

In order to accurately benchmark current carbon performance levels, the project is seeking case study data from the real estate and built environment industry. The deadline to provide your carbon data is 11 January. To submit your carbon data, visit the UK Net Zero Carbon Buildings Standard website.
