Elliott Wood worked with Bisset Adams to deliver a new £27 million landmark Conference Centre in Blackpool’s historic Winter Gardens, as a key part of the local council’s investment and regeneration strategy for the future.

The new steel-framed conference centre provides the capacity to stage major conferences, with state-of-the-art facilities, a new environmentally controlled exhibition space, a new atrium reception and entrance to the Winter Gardens, and has increased the capacity of the complex to cater for up to 7,000 delegates.

The contemporary building has been designed as a new landmark to complement the grand Victorian heritage of the adjacent listed Winter Gardens ballroom and Opera House. Introduced part-way through the traditional design phases, Elliott Wood have immediately added value by reducing the over-all steel frame weight by 40T.

We also developed an intricate sequence of works which respects the adjacent listed structures and maintains a full art and performance programme for the complex through-out construction.
