Elliott Wood was appointed on to the redevelopment of the existing sports pavilion and facilities at Latymer Upper School’s playing fields. The project involved the demolition of a pavilion and construction of a new two-storey building.
The ground floor utilises a proprietary ‘jet floor’ system that integrates the required insulation into the floor structure. The structure above the first floor is steel framed and supports a standing seam roof. This type of construction at this level allows large clear spans to be accommodated.
Exposed concrete is used to dramatic effect, at the cantilevered stairs flanking the building and the slender columns supporting the roof. Exposed concrete is extended to the outdoor furniture and other external details.
