Metro Bank, Throughout UK – Projects
- Metro Bank
- Throughout UK
Elliott Wood was appointed onto the Metro Bank design team developing all new proposed buildings, new store fit-outs, and major refurbishment works and alterations to existing buildings.
Involvement with the client and the design team starts from the early stages of design intent, right up to the construction stage and completion. Ensuring the brands corporate image requires the internal appearance of Metro Banks to be quiet generic from one project to another.
Elliott Wood have been appointed on over 155 projects stores so far, with 70 completed and another 37 live. These are generally located within city centre high streets, malls and out of town retail parks including sites in London, Brighton, Epsom, High Wycombe, Maidstone and Reading.
The design philosophy of the Metro Bank space is to be as open as possible within the banking halls, and often the aspiration is to achieve a double height space. Elliott Wood must push the boundaries of structural design to alter the fabric of existing structures.
The below ground drainage has to be adapted to the specific constraints of each site on a project by project basis. It can include diversions of the existing drainage of adjacent buildings to suit the new internal layout.
The wide range of projects generates additional civil engineering elements such as external works (e.g. realignment of car parking), vehicle tracking across external areas, setting of external levels to comply with disabled access and Flood Risk Assessments where necessary.
These projects are on fast roll-out programmes, two projects have been successfully delivered with several more reaching completion and others under construction.
