citizenM London Shoreditch Hotel, London – Projects

citizenM London Shoreditch Hotel is a completed mixed use development located directly off Shoreditch high street. The scheme includes the ten-storey citizenM hotel, ground floor commercial units and a seven-storey residential block. The development sits directly adjacent to the existing London Overground viaduct which was protected and monitored throughout the construction works. It also rests directly above a medieval burial ground which led to an archaeological dig being undertaken to preserve and remove the significant finds that were made.

The hotel itself is formed out of pre-fabricated steel pods which were manufactured and delivered to site with windows and internal fittings pre-installed. The pods sit atop a steel transfer frame which spans the width of the building and supports a hung steel mezzanine that houses the hotel bar and club lounge. Fabricated outrigger steel columns complete what is an elegant solution to a constrained site.
